DDF 205 Advanced Video Editing
Building on DDF105, in this paper we deal with the more advanced areas of video editing including green-screening and compositing, as well as working more on sharpening the editor's crucial skill – knowing exactly when to cut.
What are the assessments?
There are eight medium sized assignments, each dealing with a specific topic:
•Digital Matte Painting
•Animating Still Images
•Sound Editing
•Problem Solving
•Creating an aged film look
•Green Screen
•Cutting on Action
•Creating a signature “Look”
What gear do I need.
oFinal Cut Studio 2 and Photoshop Extended – this would be the best option for anyone undertaking this course.
oAdobe CS3 Production Premium (including Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects) – Although the course has been written around Final Cut Studio it is also possible to complete the course using this package. Note that it is NOT possible to use CS2 or earlier versions of Premiere in this course since the file formats are incompatible.
oEarlier versions of Final Cut Pro – the course can be completed with earlier versions of Final Cut Pro, however some tasks will be significantly more difficult.
oFinal Cut Express and Photoshop Elements – the course can be completed with this software, however you should expect the projects to be significantly more difficult since many of the advanced features are missing from these lite versions of the software.
You must have completed DDF 105 before enrolling in this course
Here are a couple of sample pages from the course documents. These are just pages at random, but they’ll give you an idea of the course content.
